Girasoles Project II – Hogar Renacer
Established in the 1970’s and based on a similar mission statement as the Hogar Escuela Rosa Duarte, the Hogar Renacer is located in the northern outer skirts of the city of Santo Domingo, which is the capital of the Dominican Republic and is located on the south shore of the island. The home has been operating continuously since its inception.
The home houses a total of 25 Dominican girls that have been sexually abused, battered and abandoned. Girls at this home have been severely traumatized and require psychiatric attention so that they may have an opportunity to overcome all the adversity.
Girls attend school and are followed closely in their different environments to try and ensure a successful recovery. On their spare time, these girls are also offered different classes to develop skill that may allow them to obtain gainful and dignified employment in the future.
The home receives a monthly stipend from the local Government that barely allows them to subsist. Necessities are many and any type of contribution will be very thankfully received and heartfelt and put to good use. Or, if you so prefer, the following is a guideline for donations:
- US$ 27.00 will provide nutritious meals for a month to 1 girl.
- US$ 330.00 will provide nutritious meals for a month for the home.
Or you can donate any amount that is most suitable to your budget. It will be gladly utilized to cover many of the different needs of the home.
The Girasoles Foundation is a 501(c)(3) approved charity organization. Donations are tax deductible.
Improving the quality of life of poor, abused, battered and abandoned children in The Dominican Republic.
